Louis Bernard Woeste

unknown-unknown

Louis Bernard Woeste worked out of Newport, Kentucky, and filed the first formal patent for a mirrored, faceted sphere in 1917, decades before disco existed as a genre.

Little else about his life is well documented, and his invention outlived any record of the man himself, surviving instead as an object without a name most people ever attach to him.
